Post by JoeK »

Do the rear seats in a 2003 Bonneville fold down? Im trying to increase the volume of my 15" Fi inside the cab but it looks like its bolted up/huge metal plate behind the seat

I wonder why. I noticed a huge metal plate behind it. ALL other cars fold down seats. Bunch of rear integration modules mounted on it and such. Lame :'(

Are you just lookin to have more cubic space or do you need the physical room to fit the sub?

I want to drop the seats for more volume mainly. But id also like to slide the sub in through the cab so i can fit bigger boxes. Mainly the volume thing

If you don't mind being ghetto.... You can take the rear deck out. It's 5 10mm bolts 3 are easy to get to and 2 you will need a swivel gear wrench to get at, they are right next to the rear window. I did this for awhile when I was looking for a rattle. It made it pretty loud and crisp. You lose your back speakers but keep your back seats.

I have considered that. I had to stick cardboard on both sides of the deck to keep it from rattling. It rattled so bad i couldnt hear the 30hz basslines :P

Eclipses are designed like that and ill have to see how to make it look pretty if i do decide to do that

Structure is why it seems. Even most cars WITH a 60/40 suck. My Impala had a folding rear seat and it was useless as anything more than a trunk vent most of the time.

Seems most foreign cars have folding rear seats, with American cars, it's a mixed bag. It's also been a lot more common the past 5-7 years in new models...

Buy an SUV....sorry just completely dislike huge systems and boxes in cars, well period at all, but don't load a car with its own weight on stereo equipment. It's dumb.

And the car was meant for American luxury performance, not to ghetto blast.

I think the sound quality of a stereo system is better in a car than in an SUV. In an SUV, the sound kind of wallows in the hatch. In a car it seems to be tighter, and you get more deep tones. Of course this is all defeated when you fold the rear seat down in a car... I never have anyone in my back seat, but I never fold it down, because my system sounds better when the seat is up. Not as loud, but the quality is exponentially better.
