Busted fuel injectors!
Hey guys, I am in the process of buttoning up the LIM gasket job and ran into problems swapping injector o-rings. Two of the plastic retainers at the tips of the injectors broke because they were so brittle. Does this spell "junk, it'll leak"? And if so will the only ones that will work would be from vin 1 97+? Did some searching and it looks like K engines were different ( I will be looking for used, don't really feel like $150.00 for this little mishap).
Thanks!
Thanks!

Re: Busted fuel injectors!
Mine broke the first time I did mine, and I've done them again since (because of mods) and I've had no problems. As long as they go in fine and don't get torn, you'll be fine.
Bye Bye:

Re: Busted fuel injectors!
Really? One upper is completely gone and one lower missing almost half a chunk, so the o-rings will seat ok and seal? I was worried lol.

The lowers aren't really that big a deal, the upper might be. If you aren't comfortable with them like that, I sell injectors for $10 each.

Re: Busted fuel injectors!
could this cause a vac leak? I had a few break and it seems they could be the culprit.

Re: Busted fuel injectors!
No, it would be a fuel leak.

Re: Busted fuel injectors!
Uppers would be a fuel leak, lowers would be a massive vacuum leak, as Andrew and I experienced when we did my LIM gaskets the first time, and one got torn going into the head. As long as it all gets in safely and properly secured, it should be fine.

I don't trust it Ed lol. Just doesn't look good with an o-ring out there all by itself with no keeper.

Re: Busted fuel injectors!
The bores they go into are tapered, so it's not like they're going to fall into them...

The leak aspect is what I was worried about.
