For what it cost me and to see what went on with the replacement in my car, I will gladly pay Saflite $300 to do it.

I know there was the strip they put around the glass and then he used a pre heated adhesive to bond it to the car and that was all. The adhesive he used was kept in a heated box in the back of his van.

Somethings are best left to the pros.

Plus another thing to think about is that this site/people is/are very pro wrench. So when we avoid doing something on our cars, you gotta figure it's not worth trying do it yourself.

I though about attempting it for the back glass in the 2002 SLE I had, but in the end I found a used glass from a local salvage yard for $47 then found a local company to come out and install it for me for $60. Look around and I bet you can find a good deal like that as well.

I've helped a pro replace a windshield, and it's a massive pain. Not worth trying to DIY and breaking it.

It seems to me that windshield replacement is not really vehicle specific, it is more of its own skill set. Sure some vehicles may have slight variations, but it is best left to pros with warranties who do it for a living.

Good luck

Windshields are a pain to deal with, make sure your new windshield donor car has the HUD if you need it

I cut the windshield out if the donor car that all i did , and could barely do that .

I have a local shop that will cut and replace a window labor only $60 bucks . but i need a window moulding both riped when i removed them . I guess i should have left the 2001 sle's moulding alone and let them remove it .

new one is 40 bucks . So, ill cost $100 bucks
