This app is great and makes mobile posting/viewing a breeze, also, it's free for the forum owners to hook into it. Users pay a small fee on their phone and get to use it for countless forums (more are added daily). I'd love to see Pontiac Bonneville Club support it!

It'd be nice to have some kind of droid/iPhone app for Pontiac Bonneville Club. I think it would prove quite useful for some of us. Doesn't necessarily have to be Tapatalk though, a free app would be nice.

The beauty of Tapatalk is having all your forums in one place on one app, all looking the same. It streamlines and makes things easier.

I prefer mobile versions.. Easy enough to impliment, and less cost to users as tapatalk costs money.

Do both then :) People complain of Tapatalk like it's $100 or something, it's a small one-time fee of $3 or $5 iirc for the program. Less than your lunch to allow you to browse countless forums all in the same easy-to-use format. Allows you to see the topics you participated in with one click, sends you notification of updates if you want, etc.

Not ruling out things like taptalk, but a mobile forum scheme and other things would be first on the list. It also depends on how integrated the taptalk software is into our forum software. The more things that are integrated, the harder maintenance and updates are to perform on here.

*bump*...look at the iPhone store and Android store of Tapatalk vs other forum programs. It is the best reviewed, and most certainly the most downloaded. More and more forums that I use are being added to it every day. We certainly also need to get onto updating this site, whatever is wrong with the host it is by far the slowest page to load while I have a great connection. I've had a few "sql database" errors and even seen double posting happen from a few people. In my opinion, if the current site developers don't have time, a "help wanted" should go up in the notice section. If I had phpbb experience trust me, I'd offer my time.

The thing here is, more and more people every day are spending the majority of their time, if not all browsing from mobile. Plenty of people (proven by numbers) want the simplicity of the same interface between all forums. We're not the only forum on the net, and people don't spend time on just one forum. A mobile site platform is great, but does it provide a program that can beep you for PM's? Notify you on select topics? Allow you to change those settings per topic? I can go on and on. I feel this forum would see a lot more traffic and helpful advice if we concentrated on getting it more mobile-friendly. A mobile site is a great idea, but at the same time, tapatalk support is fundamental. For those of you "so busy", tell me...you always have your phone on you right? Think about it.

The SQL errors and speed are our host, not the forum itself...

I edited my previous post to add a little more to the mobile point, and Ed, I even said in the post that it was the "host" more than likely. I'm aware. Owners/admins/site developers should be contacting the host to resolve the issue, it's not like it's only been going on for a few days here...

I finally stepped into 2009 and got a smart phone, so it would be nice to have the mobile app stuff built in. So... bump for Gordy.

I have never used any app such as tapatalk, and I just really do not see the benefit to it? Almost any smartphone out today has a screen that is plenty big with good enough resolution to be able to view a website without some crappy mobile theme...

On other forums with it, tapatalk will append a line at the end of a post, something to the effect of "posted from my sooper iphone", and it's on a lot of posts. People do use it quite a bit.

I'll look into it over the next few days. It really depends on how integrated it has to be with our software to see if we can/want to install it.

It's good, more of a basic forum layout for your phone with better posting options. This site is a lot cleaner than others that I am on that do have it, so it's less of an issue on here.

I am adding my vote for this! I'm certain there's a plugin for this forum software that will make the integration stupid simple. I used to run a phpbb forum and everything I wanted to add was a breeze, and that was over 10 years ago.

Here is a question, what the heck does this do that is a benefit vs. just surfing the site in the internet on my Windows Phone? I have zero issue (other than my fat fingering on the touch screen which I still hate as it constantly tries to autocorrect me! Give me a *dang* keyboard like my old Blackberry), when posting from my phone on here, CHC, or any other forum(s) I'm on.

What benefit is there to this? We have it on other forums, so I've seen it, but will it increase my speed in posting? Will it enhance my viewing of the site while mobile? If not, I fail to see the point.

Maybe the windows phone does some sort of fancy formatting the rest of the world has never known, I don't know. But for the 60-70% of us using Android, it sorta sucks. When I reply to a post it zooms in too far and doesn't even fit what I'm typing on the screen, then if I zoom out far enough to see everything the buttons to submit what I'm typing are microscopic. Some of that could be related to the fact my phone has a 1080p screen, but I can't imagine it being any better on other phones. Tapatalk provides a phone specific interface for QUICKLY navigating forums and replying. It also provides push notifications of new replies. Basically, once you've used it there's no going back.
