Talk about modifications, or anything else associated with performance enhancements. Have a new idea for performance/reliability? Post it here. No idea is stupid! (please use Detailing and Appearance for cosmetic ideas)

the focus was my first car so obviously it has become my money pit and 580whp play toy.
i bought a kia soul to "grow up" and have something that is practical with a back seat and gets good mileage.
my wife brought the ssei bonneville into the mix to piss me off because it does everything the kia does better.
i then bought another ssei bonneville

I don't doubt you man, but there's a guy at work who has an '05 Monte Carlo (3.8L).
He swear's this kit made a Massive difference in performance and fuel economy...
I understand the "snake oil" thing ,thats why I thought I'd ask here.
I've ridden in his car and it's pretty dam* quick!

Guess I'm looking for a way to get more performance without major mods, and $60 seemed like an easy option...
How would I go about finding someone locally who could tune the PCM for me?

BTW: Just changing the Air Filter to the K&N made a noticable difference!
I can hear the SC a little more, but that's not a bad thing IMHO... :)

Where are you located?

Its normally about $100 to have your car tuned, cheaper if you know someone. If there isnt anyone around you, INTENSE Racing does canned tunes for your car. $100.

Does your buddy have actual documented numbers (dyno) to back up their claims?

If it was a legit thing, there would be others on here that have it

I live in Cincinnati (Northern Suburbs)...
I feel kind of bad (stupid), but I went ahead and ordered one of those kits the other night, right after I posted that message... :bluetwitch:
It was a combination of beer, gulibility and a cheap price...

As for the guy at work. No, he doesn't have any proof (dyno) results, it was just a feeling thing that could very well be placebo and justification since he spent money on it...

That being said... He's a pretty bright guy and he's happy with it, which may explains why I bought one... :P

I've only been on this forum for a short time, but I can already tell most folks on here are car gurus!
I'm pretty mechanically inclined, and worked on cars ALOT when I was younger but my hobby has been computers for quite awhile...

Honestly, my PC is pretty well tweaked out, so I thought I'd put a little money in my car (my 2nd love).

The sad thing is, it was only $60, but now I'm not expecting much, and hoping it doesn't trash my PCM...
I'm pretty sure I wasted my money... :sadeyz:

Well you can be the guinea pig for the forum!! Def make a thread in, say, "General Discussion" (since it applies to all cars) about the product and your findings after you install it.

This is awesome. I've done all those to my Gp gtp other than headers and a shift-kit. How much would this normally cost, so I can get some quotes and be sure I don't get ripped off?

This is your best bet for a budget...
http://speed-daddy.com/index.php/header ... 8l-v6.html

Do a search on the forum, there are more than a few running these and they have some things that need to get welded so they dont leak.

Other than the SD you are looking at $6-700 and up for headers.

And search on Ebay for the SDs may save some money and then also you wont need to do your U-bend delete that you asked about in your other thread.

Please keep this in your own thread.

Short answer: There aren't any.

It just keeps things tidy(which we try to do with the forum, for the most part). There were answers in your thread already and there's no need to spread the info directly over 2 threads. That's all man! No hard feelings!

No, I'm not being sarcastic, mean or grumpy. There literally are no parts for Northstars, really. Not trying to be a dick. It just helps keep everything organized and easier to sort through.
