Oh I'm starting to have my doubts that the Grizz is going to make it down to Corvallis. :spaz:

Today he hands me this....

Image

He says it fell off on the front end and was dragging for a while before he could rip it off in a parking lot.

The right front tire is losing about 10 psi a day from a slow leak and now I can see not only the wear marks showing level but large tears around the circumference where the tread meets the sidewall. :eek2:

He says no problem, we can just stop at gas stations along the way and fill up the tire or use the trunk inflator. :bluetwitch:

Bill, I hope you can double check to make sure the tire shop has those tires ready as soon as we get to town.

Is that just the splash guard under the radiator? Atleast on your way down there are plenty of people along your route to rescue you. How are things with Laura coming down?

What times are we looking at people passing through Portland down I-5?

I pick petraman up at the airport at 10:30 Monday night and then we are heading down Tuesday morning after Wendy gets off work. Wendy will have limited appearances due to her working a lot.

It's the front belly pan air dam.
Darn it, now it'll cost some wind resistance.

The tire is more my concern.

No word from the employer to Laura so she's still coming.

In case it's perhaps not obvious, I am announcing I will not be able to make it to this WCBF. I was hoping that I could at least get there with the 99 SLE, but various other things have taken hold of my time. I was really banking on Kevin to help me get out there, and even he has been taken down by the times out here. This is pretty horrible. I'm sorry if anyone was antsy about me getting there and showing off my awesome 94 SSEi, but maybe next year. The worst thing about it is I won't be able to meet up with you guys as soon as I was hoping. The good thing is that I'm right now getting ready for all of 09's regional/national meets. No missing it next year!

I ripped off an airdam off my '89 TransAm when it was hanging down -- overheated like a big dog at speeds much past 40 mph.

Good luck with that tire . . . maybe stop and pick up full size spare at first tireshop and run that instead?

Don't worry about that air dam. You'll be fine without it... it was only used on the 94/95. Mine never had one nor did my friend's 93 SE. My 94 did have one though.

Worry about the airdam, and it was used on 92 and 93 also. I have one on the Zilla. It directs airflow around the engine for efficient cooling instead of the air just dumping out the bottom. All SSEi's have them. They are quite different in design to the SE/SLE style. But you know what? My 93 and 95 are very similar, possibly because of the L67 and it's need for more cooling. I'd have to compare them side by side, cuz I haven't had coffee yet.

Paul, put a can of fix-a-flat in that tire and drive a bit with it (follow the directions). It'll probably slow the leak at the very least, but make SURE it's not a bent rim/bad bead first. I'm not ordering those tires until I KNOW the Grizz is coming. I need confirmation. Any time today or tomorrow is plenty of time to have them here Monday. Order them Monday, have them Tuesday. They are in a warehouse an hour away.

That's exactly what I told him about the air dam but, meh, he's not worried about it so neither am I. It's his car.
He works today and tomorrow and is off on Sunday. I'll try the fix a flat stuff.

He will have one of my race tires in his trunk and I will have the other one, so he has to go now!

I will confirm Sunday.

Tues, Wed or Friday. You would need to be away for about 5 - 6 hours and give up a tank of fuel. Would be a very expensive movie. :???:

I drove in from Edmonton today to Red Deer (85 miles north of Red Deer), then tomorrow early am I leave for Lethbridge (230 miles south of Red Deer were I now live), tomorrow night Joel and Drew will roll in. Quick food, then sleep. We depart Lethbridge @3:00am, (2am Oregon time). Mapquest says 14 hours even from Lethbridge, but, I have made it in 14.5 from Red Deer, which is 200 miles further away. Should make a 12 hour trip out of it without trying hard.
Lets hope and pray that Joels 1999 Dodge Stratus makes the trip, I think my SSEi is ready! Hahah.
New tires go on the Pontiac Monday morning at Les Schwab in Corvallis on 9th.

Les Schwab? I thought Bill told me that Grizz was going to get tires at another Tire place.

What kind of tire are you getting?

We are getting 225 60 VR 16's

I used the fix a flat foam on the Grizz right front tire and it's holding for now at 35 psi. We'll see what it is in the morning.
There sure isn't much tread left on these. Hope they make the 500 mile trip.
