Heated seats...

Post by jla1989 »

hey... i discovered the heated seat fix in the foroms and decided today to tackel the ones in my 2001 sle but... i currently have the drivers seat all apart but cant seem to find any loose connections or broken wires... any ideas what else would cause them not to work... they come on for about 2 seconds and then go right back out..???

kk... ive checked both seats and the only thing i could find was some bare wire showing on the passengers side so i cut the wire stripped it and then sautered it but still nothing... i even pulled off most of the backrest thinking it might be the connection on the pad there but all the wires are run right till where they're glued in....idk i guess i shouldnt of tackeled it lol.. its frustrating the heck outta me cuz everything looks almost perfect to where they are supposed to be run..

If you know how to use an ohm meter, now would be the time to use it.

I thought the same thing initially when I opened mine up. A little more digging helped me find the culprit(S)

After you fixed it, you probably had some wires touching that weren't supposed to... you've fried the entire system now and its not repairable. Either live with no heated seats, or find some new seats.

They still work but smoke after 20sec each time or now they dont work? If they keep working and smoking then you just have to find out what is shorted, prolly something you already soldered. Hope so man!!
