I bet that engine compartment will look different after its put through driving stress. Bumps at speed, pressure from turns, etc will find the weak points. I also would be surprised if that passes inspection.

harofreak00 wrote:I think you'll be surprised when you go to get it inspected. Do you think they would pass a car that had the roof cut off? They don't say anything about that in the MSHP Book.

It's actually pretty sad that you plan on driving this. If you were to get in an accident, and your insurance finds out its a salvage vehicle that wasn't properly repaired, they might deny all coverage.

It also looks like the passenger wheel is set too far in, did you check the subframe? It didn't need an alignment after that?
these wheel are smaller only 16 " rims instead of the 17" that came on it . so thats probally why it looks inset .

the subframe ( the main part where the motor attachs too and bumper ETC . was totaly untouched . it was a HIGH hit . Like the bonnie hit a bumper of a pickup truck.

still drives straight . i understand all your concerns . and we will see if the MIOHP ok's it

I'm.....sorry. I just can't say anything positive about holding the front of a bumper cover with string/zip ties/bailing wire.

The damage, however, is fully repairable from the looks of things. It would require some cutting/splicing of a new unibody piece. The radiator support bar should be replaced. It does have *some* hope.

the bumper is not held on with a zip tie . it was just temporarily . the inner fender and a nut and bolt was drilled and screwed in the fender and bumper cover for a snug fit . i then used some 3/m double sided outdoor tape too and for the gap .

yes this picture was before we did 2-3 hours of hand work and got it all straight

That's nowhere near close, that top core support brace should be straight from side to side.

I do agree that it is fixable with some cutting and welding from a donor car, but it should never be driven the way it is right now.

You know what's Funny . When i took it to Firestone to get it Inspected . I took it there because i know they check evrything and wont pass anything not road worthy .

They came out to me and said :

Fire Stone Employee : Did you just buy this car ?

Me : Yes

Fire Stone Employee : You know it been in a wreck did they tell you when you bought it ?

Me : Yep

Firestone employee: Ok well everything else looks great it passed .

So what you are saying is that the car actually was NOT inspected?

I gotta be honest here, the fact that you are driving this car around after a hack repair job like this concerns me for your own safety and the safety of anyone in the vehicle with you. To add to that, the fact that you are wanting to now buy more of these cars and flip them concerns me even more. Sure, you plan to drive this one yourself, but what about some day when you decide to move on and the damage isn't mentioned to the buyer or the true danger isn't really represented correctly then they get in an accident?

Who is to say that you don't buy another wrecked one and do some half-assed repair job on it then sell it as a fully operational and safe vehicle?

Would you feel safe letting your mother, wife, sister, daughter etc... borrow this car knowing that the structural integrity has been compromised?

I really want to know what all is involved with their inspection? Did they even pop the hood and take a good look at the damage?

I thought you said you replaced the fender rail structure. It looks horrible. I'm embarrassed for you.

I don't believe that the actual structure of the car where it was wrecked was thoroughly inspected. With damage like that, it really should not have passed a safety inspection.

This isn't a honda civic forum where everyone that comes along gets a pat on the back and words of encouragement no matter what they do. We actually care for your safety and the safety of others, that is why we are being hard on you. Bottom line is that there is a right way and a wrong way to fix that car, had you done it the right way ny cutting out damaged metal and welding in good new metal from a parts car nobody would have said anything bad. However, all you did was pound the structural damage out and drilled some new holes to mount the fender. Everything is still mangled up under that hood, fender, and bumper cover.... that is not safe to drive!
