Cold Air Intake
Just ordered a VOLANT Cold Air Intake for my '05 GXP. Under the Volant part number: 15846C,
this is for an 01-04 Cadillac Deville 4.6 Northstar. It took me about an hour and a half to remove
the old box and install the new one. I used the stock hose pumbing; the Volant comes with extra tubing
if you need it, but the stock tubing fit fine. The box has a bracket mount for the PCM module,
and I fabricated it to fit on the outside of the bracket (the PCM module will fit inside the new box).
I also drilled a couple of sheet metal screw mounts to mount the new box to the inner wheel well space,
formally occupied by the stock unit. WHAT A DIFFERENCE!! Under full throttle the engine really comes on
strong. I ordered the whole assembly from Auto Anything online for $276.95, and the Volant folks
will give you a $20.00 mail in rebate. You won't be sorry for the investment.

Re: Cold Air Intake
Definitely need pics.
I also think you probably should've used the tubing that came with the kit, as it's probably designed a lot better for flow versus the stock bellows...

Re: Cold Air Intake
- Stock elbows are accordian's. Not condusive to airflow (A lot of turbulence involved)
- Make sure the PCM is secure (as the stock airbox houses it)
- Make sure any air pickup for it is secured away from the heat of the radiator. Being a Volant, it is a sealed box so you shouldn't have to worry, but if you're picking up the air from underhood, in warmer months, it'll trigger a P0420. In making my home made version it did this, until I routed it out the front hole, and down into the front are behind the headlight.

Re: Cold Air Intake
Thanks for the help; I removed the stock piping and installed the Volant tubing.
Again, this Cold Air system makes a BIG DIFFERENCE.

Re: Cold Air Intake
Oh, no doubt. That stock airbox is one of the worst I have seen in a long time. Having the PCM in there doesn't help from a performance standpoint.
