The PO of my car could swap springs FAST because of a shorter spring than the shock body. I think you're fine driving it on the street in an adult manner... Don't go nuts though!repinS wrote:The problem is the short spring on the long shock. I should probably clarify that the back end isn't just bouncy, it feels like the tires leave the ground even on medium bumps. If it was this spring on a hatch shock, I'd be less worried.

Re: Bought another car! (page 3: body shop!)
My coilovers probably have the same if not more spring travel on an un-loaded shock as the video you posted. All low macpherson strut converted to coilover setups are like this. As long as the top perch centers the spring securely when loaded, there is no issue.

Picked up mad sick rimz for my Honda, yo:
All four in that trunk, no sweat

Before. Still needs coilovers installed up front.

Tire Rack is awesome: they said they'd include lug nuts, but I didn't realize they would be Gorilla splined security nuts!

Looks great! It's a cool combination of modern and a retro vibe that would've been authentic back when the car was new. I've seen this sort of look on 80's BMW's, and I love it.

Ed: That MK5 Jetta TDI belongs to one of the electrical engineers on our school's Formula SAE Hybrid team. It's a stocker, nothing too special.
Coils and remaining suspension bits go in next week, so until that happens, in addition to an alignment, I'm still rolling on the 13's
Yeah, apparently this wheel style (Enkei 92) was a popular choice in the 90's. Recently, Enkei decided to bring it back from discontinuation.Hotwheels wrote:Looks great! Nice wheels! Those go with the car very nicely!
A lot of the online tire companies are offering those Gorilla security lugs as the lugs to use. The two sets of winter wheels I've ordered with lug nuts have come with those kind of lugs.

Did this a while ago, but never updated. The reverse rake has been fixed:

And last weekend at Autocross
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QLQSN92lS0I&hd=1
Surprisingly, even with the lack of a rear sway bar, the back end gets a bit squirreley under transition and braking. I think if I'm going to add one, I'll have to pair it with a thicker front bar. It'll be a long term project that's for sure. Car feels great, the Yokohama S.drive 195/50/15's are awesome, and the D15 is surprisingly healthy - it just needs a good seafoaming.

Seriously love the way that thing looks! Driven a Civic or two myself, with a 5 speed they can be quite fun.
