gauge cluster mystery
well my gauge cluster has been dead for over a month and a half. Yesterday my starter blew apart and when i say blew apart i mean blew apart. The houseing on it when into 3 different pieces exposeing everything inside the starter. I told you that to tell you this when the starter exploded it brought my gauges back. Coincidence i dunno any ideas on why that mighta happened.

Re: gauge cluster mystery
Wow, I've not heard of a starter exploding like that before. And I think pure coincidence that it had any effect on the gauges. There is noting that could tie the two components together that I can see.
I had posted on your other gauge thread, and my experience with the failing cluster was similar, that it worked for a while, stopped working, then worked again, then stopped eventually. I'm guessing that is the kind of cycle that you're in currently.
So, I would guess that the starter came apart during an attempt to start the car? Bet that was an interesting experience.

Re: gauge cluster mystery
Yes correct it indeed exploded during an attempt to start the car sounded like a gun going off. I'm by no means a car expert but what im figurein is that when the starter exploded maybe it released some kind of electrical current that traveled all through out the car and jumped my cluster perhaps? Even with my cluster back it still goes in and out very often so eventually it'll probably die completely again. For some reason i'm thinking it has somethin to do with a short mainly because my blaupunkt headunit sounds like it shorts out all connections and grounds for that are perfect. I have tried a different receiver as well does the same thing. Just an idea i was having
