Hey guys, I need some insight into a problem I have started noticing recently.
2000 SSEi 168k miles. Whenever I accelerate from a stop or a low rolling start and give it some gas, she seems to accelerate just fine, but there is a grinding noise that seems like its coming from the transmission. It happens in 1st gear and first gear only (i think) because when I accelerate heavy in any other gear there are no issues and she scoots along nicely.
I haven't done anything that I think would cause this to happen. I pulled the codes and I'm getting 0171 which is the fuel trim lean and another one. Going to recheck them after work, but i dont think they would have anything to do with this problem. It is constant, only from slow speeds when I really get on it.
thanks in advance for your help.
Carl

Re: Possible Transmission issue
Ok, pulled the codes last night. One of them was P0443. The other on just said reading, so I cleared them and will check again this afternoon.
Any ideas?

Re: Possible Transmission issue
P0443 is an emissions code, nothing to do with your transmission.
How are you motor mounts?

Re: Possible Transmission issue
Replaced the front less than 2 years ago. The others were fine at that time. I'll check them again this weekend.

Re: Possible Transmission issue
Replaced it with an aftermarket one? 2 years old means its probably dead, they don't last long at all... replace it with hockey pucks.

Yes with aftermarket. Plan to replace it with hockey pucks this weekend. Will see if that fixes it. Thanks.

Re: Possible Transmission issue
Yeah don't forget in 1st is when you are going slow/from a standstill...most pressure is applied to the drivetrain/mounts at that point. In 2nd and above, your car is already rolling...lot less pull on the parts.
