Classic 3100/3400 LIM failure on Rosie. She's been losing coolant for years (never into the oil until very recently) and I pulled her off the road. Yes, it's a crappy job to do but not as bad as I thought!

And in a Venture. How tough are things to reach? Is this one you can remove dogbone on, and rotate engine toward you for service?

Not that bad, but yes, it's a pain to get at. Just alot of removing and such. I did rotate the engine forward with a strap to remove the alternator. The PS pump had to be removed as well. There's alot less room towards the firewall in a van but rotating forward gave me a few precious inches I needed. If you don't bleed, you didn't fix it.

That is NASTY!!! I've not seen anything that bad since I did the IM gaskets on my 85's stock LB9.

How well was the van running before you ripped into it?
She was running fine with no strange noises. I knew the gaskets were going bad and I was checking the oil regularly before it went milky. I'm gonna clean her up good and flush it a few times and hope for the best! Pray for me!

She's alive! I fired her up but she ran badly until I figured out the ignition wires were messed up. The lifters ticked but that went away and no unusual noises so far. A few more oil changes and I think we're good!

Hot rod van has 10 extra HP now for a red intake mani and valve cover!
Good work! Lifter tick at first isn't abnormal, just takes a second to circulate all around.

Awesome! I wish the two 3400's in the family were that clean. They're both headed to the scrapyard in the next year or so due to rust on the van bodies.

Learn from the mistakes of others, that way when you mess up you can do so in new and interesting ways.
Looking' good Ray, I don't envy that engine bay one bit. I really should stop procrastinating and get on with doing mine, now that the weather is turning nicer.
