If you rotated your tires and the sound stayed in the same place, it's not the wheels.

Have you inspected the strut and mounts?

Yes the struts and mounts are good. It's a scrapping noise not a clunking type noise. It's a freaking mystery.... #-o

Well the mechanic couldn't find anything but says it's most definatley coming from the driver side front tire area. Since getting it back we replaced the calipers but no change in the sound. It's very frustrating when certified mechanics cant even figure it out. It doesnt affect the steering at all but is very noisy and embarassing; I guess I should just be glad it only happens when turing right. I'm trying to figure out a way to video record the noise to post on here but my iPhone doesnt take movies :sadeyz:

I found a video on you tube that is the exact same noise happening the exact same way. All of the suggestions to him say CV joint but these have been replaced on my car. http://youtu.be/BUch4OL-p08

Here is avideo that is spot on for the noise my car is making and it just happens to be a 99 Grand Prix. He's saying that the noise is a bearing on top of the front strut that allows the strut assembly to turn as you turn the wheel. Has anybody heard of this? http://youtu.be/6jwSv1dL2EI

I was finally able to get a video of the noise. Again, this only happens when turning right and it doesnt always happen; heat and speed do affect it. Like I've said everything on the front end has been replaced and it has been to 3 mechanics and they can't figure it out. There has to be weight on the wheels for it to happen (mechanic tried to recreate it on a hoist). Any ideas/suggestions? http://s1179.photobucket.com/albums/x39 ... 114833.mp4

Believe it or not those have been replaced twice. A mechanic swore that was the problem after we had them originally changed and he said sometimes they are bad even from the manufacturer so we changed it again and nothing changed.

Maybe I missed something...so it wasn't the wheels? So specifically when did the noise actually begin? after you replaced what? If all that has been done it doesn't leave a whole lot unless it is something easybut elluding that is causing it...

And I sure hope you didn't put in Napa cv rebuilds ... they are known trash. I went through 2 sets of that pure junk. I should be reimbursed for my time/ and wear-tear on the diff while they were in the car.

BTW a good piece of trash rebuilt cv will tweek the poor diff and not in a good way. Always get your original cv's rebuilt at a quality shop if they have high miles, or just replace the boots yourself if thats the only problem. The aftermarket stuff looks like the better deal but not in reality--you got the choice either the Chinese fortune cookie crapshots or rebuilds by morons.

Correct, it was not the wheels. The car had the sound when I bought it. The previous owner also had her mechanics look at it and couln't figure it out. It had no cv's on it when we bought it and turned around and put a new set on thinking the one's she had may have been junk. No Napa CV rebuilds here. There is literally nothing left on the front end to replace, which is why this is so aggrivating.

The grand prix video ended up being a outer tie rod. Even though you replaced those I would look into getting them looked at.
