How Many More Miles Should I Expect From Ssei Trannsmission

Post by malatu »

I've had this 2002 Ssei since it had 50,000 miles. It now has 180,000 miles on it. It gets driven very, very easy (it's my wife's car). I figure at this point in time, it's a "crap shoot", but what would be all of your best estimates as to when the tranny will go?

Like you said, it's a crap shoot. Drive it nice, keep clean fluid and a good filter in it and it could go for a long time yet, or it could go in the next 5k miles. Wouldn't hurt to sock some money away as a "transmission fund". The engine should last a long time yet.

I put a Jasper re manufactured engine in it about 4 years ago. It only has about 70k on it.

I hope so. I want to keep the car for at least another 6 years. At that rate, the car will have about 270,000 miles on it. I just don't see a tranny lasting that long. But who knows. If it's anything like my 92 SE, the passenger compartment was disintegrating. Particularly the plastic. I think that's the price you pay when you don't keep it garaged.

When I had my 2000, I used it as a fire response vehicle. Before I got it, my dad used it as a commuter from West Michigan to Wisconsin. It currently has 285,XXX miles on it. Runs and shifts like new.
