Brakes...Roters and pads

Hey guys...looking for a brake upgrade for my 05 GXP...Like my brakes but want more stopping power, a better look and maybe something that doesn't blow as much dust around as the stocks seem to do. Any suggestions? Thanks

Our Bonneville GXP's call for OE semi-metallic brake pads, but you definitely won't be cutting down any dust with those. I would go with ceramic pads. Hawk ceramics are very good, but my dust a bit more than others. As for the rotors, the premium version at your local parts store (Napa, O'Reily's, AutoZone...) should do the trick. Most are made in China anyway, but as long as you are getting the premium rotors, you should be fine. And if you decide to get drilled rotors, make sure the holes are cast into the rotor otherwise your odds of them cracking are much greater.

I have been really happy with wagner thermoquiets. I have the semi-metallic version, but the ceramic thermoquiets are supposed to be nice pads as well.

Your car has the biggest brakes and best calipers available, so that's not an option.

Honestly, slotted rotors aren't going to gain you much, and drilled rotors are a big no-no.

Go with a top-shelf rotor from your favorite parts store (I prefer NAPA) and their top-shelf ceramic pads. Once you get them bedded in they should serve you just fine. I put NAPA Premium rotors and Ultra Premium Ceramic pads on my dad's GXP, and have no qualms about braking.

Thanks a lot guys...I'm really glad I stumbled upon this website. I love this car so far. Always been a pontiac man. Getting 2 flowmaster 40 series mufflers installed in a few weeks. Just got her tinted, and looking to get the hid lights soon after.
