deck opinions...
Need some opinions on decks. I am already pushing a set of 12s using the subwoofer outputs, and I am really hoping to be pushing a 4 channel some time soon, so front and rear preouts are kinda a must. I am old school and I do listen to a lot of cds, so I don't really want a deck that only plays ipods or anything like that. I'm not rich, but I am looking at throwing some money at my next deck, I'm thinking somewhere from $200-$300. I've only ever had Pioneer decks, and I'm wanting to test the waters with something else, I've had bad luck with the anti-skip deals in Pioneers... I've been looking a lot into Kenwood, and I've even considered a used Eclipse. In your opinions, what is gonna be the best deck out there in my price range?

Re: deck opinions...
I have a Kenwood Excelon X395, and I love it. It has 3 sets of 4v pre-outs, and high/low pass filters. The only time I've ever had it skip was when I got rear-ended lol!

I would agree on looking for a Kenwood. I got a newerish model from best buy and loved it. never skipped even when my old truck was upside down. the only time it didnt play.....was when it was stolen.

Re: deck opinions...
I have had Pioneer, Kenwood and Panisonic and liked them all. the kenwood and Panisonic more so then the Pioneer. Panisonic was the one who came out with ESP 1st so in theory it should have better skipp protection then the others

Re: deck opinions...
I've used a lot of different decks, JVC, Kenwood, Pioneer, etc, and my favorite was Clarion. They are usually pretty "no-frills" as far as being eye catching, but they have the essentials such as HPF/LPF, 4v preouts, etc. Sound quality was the best I've heard by a good margin.

I almost invariably go with pioneer, I have owned several and I absolutely love the versatility of the eq functions. I currently own a deh-p580mp (Bonneville) and the powerhouse deh-p7800mp (truck) the 7800 is a fantastic deck with the 16 band graphic eq and separate filters forthe each set of speakers. It needs repair for the rca to be usable but I plan on paying for it unless I find a deh-p880prs or deh-p800prs for a reasonable price
