Saw this on craigslist over Thanksgiving weekend. It was close to where I was traveling, so I went to take a look at it. The guy had original stated it had 133k and a blown engine. I offered $1500 unseen and he seemed to like that. When I got there, I found out that it actually had 183k, blown engine, and cosmetically pretty rough. I then offered $800 and he bit.
This one is so close to the border line of fix/part out that I'm still not 100% what I'm gonna do with it... but for now, we'll say its a project.
Looks like its gonna need some PDR and polishing on the LR door, new RR rocker molding, major cleaning or replaced wheels, new engine, deep interior cleaning.
What are your thoughts? Can I revive it? I'm guessing that fixed up to a "good" condition it could bring about $4000.

From what I've seen of the cars you worked on I'd say you could clean it up and repair it.
Turn it for a few bucks.

Seems like a lot of work with the condition of the wheels, and body on top of the motor. It will really depend on the transmission and whether you find any thing else wrong with it. If anything more than what you have pointed out comes up I would part it out.

I'd say fix it just cause that's keeping another Bonnie on the road, but realistically it's looking like you should part it out. That's what I would do.

PDR guy came to look at the door today. Said he can't do much for it. Before he told me that, I was pretty sure I was going to fix it up. Since I don't have a "this color white" door in stock, I guess it depends how much I have to pay for a door on whether I fix it or not.

You really should look into Meguiar's Wheel Brightener for those wheels. Dilute it 1:1 for nasty wheels like that or 4:1 for regular cruddy wheels... you wont find a better wheel cleaner, use latex gloves and a brush and don't breath it in though lol. It is what I use for all my details and I am extremely happy with it, a gallon is about $20 and has lasted me three years.
What about just replacing the molding on the door, clean interior, swap engine and sell for a little lower price?

I'm betting there's more damage to the door than just the cladding, by the looks of things. But maybe you can try and hide it with some new cladding if it's in too bad of shape underneath?

The door molding and the door itself are screwed up...

Well after staring at this one for weeks, I decided I'm gonna fix it up. I transfered the title yesterday (and paid the $2 late fee).
I'm gonna put in the engine from my old blue SSEi because the mileage is very similar to what this car has.
I think I might just remove the orange transfer from the door and leave the metal alone. I'll swap some swoopies on it, clean it up real nice and have a $3500 car.
