car rolled through our lot today...

Post by ga93sle »

Dark cherry metallic 96-99. Had the SLE/SSE/SSEi bumpers and cladding, and SLE badges on the doors (mounted in the wrong place), and the car had cloth seats... kinda has me stumped. Could the SLE be had with cloth, or did somebody take a lot of time and swap the cladding and badging over?

Even some SSEi's had optional cloth. Rare, but there are some floating around.

Gotta be legit, IMHO. Too much work to do all that if it wasn't.

Dealer in town at home has a 97 SSEi with cloth and Manual climate control, IIRC. Talk about bare-bones...

I found an Eddie Bauer Expedition, fully loaded, every option available and special ordered with cloth seats. You can always special order a car. Why would your special order cloth? Somebody knows

Special order cloth I wouldnt but I do prefer it over leather personally. I know the majority of the world doesnt so if I can find some cheap I will be doing the swap into my Bonne before I sold it for a better resale.

I know people who like cloth better than leather, especially on the 96-99's where there was no heated seat option...

I know someone who would... She's a vegan, and she also doesn't buy anything made with animal hide for moral reasons. She hates leather seats in cars too.

When I'm in a cloth seat, I miss my leather. When I'm in my leather seat, there are times I wish it was cloth. You don't slide around as much on cloth.

Bruce: As far as I know, no 92-99 Bonneville had OEM heated seats. It may have been a dealer add-on, but none of them rolled off the line with it.

Carl: That's why I like the GXP seats, lol. The suede keeps you from sliding, but it all looks nice.

I was reminded of why I love leather Friday when I set a bag from Wendy's on my backseat, it tipped over and a little of the melted ice from the cup got on the seat. Wiped it off and it was good as new. If I had had cloth I wouldn't have been nearly as lucky, lol.

I like leather because it cleans easy. ^ :P
There are times when I miss the cloth of my previous cars, this is only the second car I've had with leather. I mostly miss it when its cold out, but that is why I have heated seats and remote start. :btruestory:

I have yet to sit in a GXP seat. They do look awesome. Particularly with the black interior.
As Will mentioned, if you got leather and you live in an area with potentially harsh winters, they gotta be heated. Hell, it's only the beginning of November and I've used mine a bunch already.

No black, just dark gray in the Bonne GXP, but yeah, they do look and feel good.

Still no heated seats for my butt...

Just upgraded to leather from cloth in the XLT, and I can honestly say, I don't miss the cloth at all. XLT was the first vehicle I've ever owned with cloth, and I hated it lol.

I, for one, prefer cloth over leather, but only for comfort. It's warm when it's cold out and cool when it's warm out. For appearance and cleaning and even durability I generally prefer leather.

My Bonneville has cloth. I like it.
