96 Bonneville Vaccuum Leak

Post by driveway Al »

Hey, need some help, I dont have any air blowing out of the vents. Only blows on defrost. I am not sure if this has anything to do with it but I did notice a broken line going to the vac. accumulator. Has anyone ever had this problem before. Thanks.

That is likely the exact problem. That vacuum reservior on the firewall (or where ever it is on a 96) is where the HVAC gets its vacuum supply to move the air diverter. The flap defaults to the defrost/floor position when there's no vacuum present.

there is good tips about fixing these on how-tos. might be a good time to clean the core while at it, its done usually from engine bay side, and cleaning it helps the amount of blow also. heater cores get really dirty since we dont have any fresh-air-filter in front of it to collect the debris.
sorry i´m from europe-expressions and understanding varies

Isn't the vac accumulator in the fender on a 96? Not on the firewall like a 95 and older?

Evap cleaning is in Techinfo.
