I just purchased a 2005 GXP with 37,000 miles on saturday. Absolutely
satisfied and really love driving it. My question is this: it is missing the
small "L" shaped exterior trim piece just behind the drivers' side rear door
that fits in the forward part of the rear wheel well arch. Does anyone have a part number
or where/who I can get this piece? Been looking on line at GM parts venders
but they show no pictures of it. My GXP is Greystone in color. Would REALLY
appreciate it if anyone knows how to acquire this.

Your dealer can get you the part number. It won't come painted, however. You'll have to out-source that yourself.

Gmpartsdirect and other online suppliers all use basically the same catalog. And they do have illustrations for most parts. You just have to figure out where your part is on the car, and work forward from there. I just found it, and I'd give you the part number but you have to email them your VIN to confirm the part number
Just search pillars rocker and floor, exterior trim, rocker molding and you'll find it.

Or he could call his dealer and have them look it up, lol.

Maybe he doesn't like talking to people on the phone? Or "The Dealer"?

Re: Missing Trim on 2005 GXP
Agreed, I hate talking to the dealer and I worked there. Sometimes being able to do your homework before having to call them can help insurmountably. Also, the reason they ask for VIN# is because pretty much all special order, most electronic, and most body parts are non-returnable. Hence they want to limit the amount of possible wrong orders.
Anyway, the part # I come up with is 88890019 for $166.22 (it was $167.xx something before I put it in my cart), plus S&H. It IS a special order NON-RETURNABLE part, hence why they want VIN# verification to order it. I bypassed it by typing in "I agree" in the proceed without confirmation box.
But check with your dealer, via phone, that this is the part you need. In both 2004 and 2005, the part is listed on GMPD under "SLE SSEi", no GXP, so... I could understand 2005 as the SLE got the GXP body cladding, but even 2004, it's still listed the same, so verification (by VIN# would be necessary).

Re: Missing Trim on 2005 GXP
Thanks to all for your help. I went to the local Chevy/Buick dealership, and got drawings, etc.
The part number they gave me (I verified by getting printout of the part) is: 89045653, specifically
for the GXP (it comes as the whole lower rocker and both wheel well pieces). Price is $132.94 with another
$70.00 tacked on for painting it. I have a local body man
going to get it wholesale and paint/instal for about a third of what dealership wants. Again, thanks to all.
