It was totaled, it appraised for $1,301. The other guy's insurance company said since it's 20 years old and worthless they weren't going to bother with a salvage/ rebuilt title. I can keep the $1,301 and they get the car, or keep the car and get $1,026 and a clear title.

I'm keeping it, because I'm crazy. Already found a blue hood.

You are not crazy, unless it's like a fox! You did the smart thing in my book! When is it getting repaired, or is it already? - BC

Car has come a long way and looks great.

Hell, for $275 I would have kept it too.

Looks like you may just come out ahead on this one. And good luck getting her back together.

Yesterday I went to pick up the blue hood I found listed online, at route 117 autoparts in MA for you NE people. They told me to check out the hood first (no u-pull on the section the car was in), and it happened to be off this very nice, complete, same color, same year SE. So needless to say I left with more than the hood. Managed to fit it all in the truck, but believe it or not it's kind of tough to fit a Bonneville hood in the Suburban. definitely tricky.

The hood alignment went pretty well, could be better but the main thing is the corners are turned down. Tried to pry them up but it didn't do anything. I didn't get a front bumper, but I think I will go back and get it soon. I didn't realize how much my front bumper had pushed down until I got the new hood/ light on. Anyone know a good DIY way to push the bumper up??

I'm don't know if I ever showed this in pictures (probably tried to avoid it lol), but the rear bumper looked like *shoot*. Here's what it was:

And here's what it is now. You might notice the final item I bought at the yard
Image

Next time I wash it, I'm going to use my porter cable to do some correction on the hood/ trunklid, then take some glamour shots. ya like that spoiler??? I'm so happy I found a trunklid in such nice condition that was also the right color.

Looking good!

IIRC, the bumper mounts are slotted and you could try to loosen them and push it up.

AWESOME job....you have a great talent there. Glad to see you found a car the same colour to get parts from!
Looks like you have come out ahead on the collision.

As big as Suburbans are (I had a 94) the huge hood of a Bonne is very deceiving! Gad you made it fit
Keep up the great work!
Tinted 13% Front 3% Rear, MSD Coils and Wires, K&N drop in air and oil filter...more to come as things wear/break!!

Tint it so dark, you won't even know your name

Suggestion only. I use just clean clear cool water. I flood the area to be cleaned, then use a clean white/light colored towel to clean/dry it. I have been able to get the greasy/dirty glove print out of the upholstery that way. Learned it from a nurse when she spilled iodine in the carpet here at the house when she was here to change the dressing on my mainline port. If I hadn't seen it with my own eyes, I wouldn't have believed it. Ever since then, I use only lots of clean water and clean towels to clean any of my upholstery. - BC
