Roughly the same as any 92-99 low mileage Bonneville in good to great shape. Unfortunately for us bonne nuts the anniversary edition really means nothing as far as pricing is concerned. It is basically just another low mileage Bonneville out there for sale.

Is this your car or one you are looking at buying?
I agree with the above. Personally for me condition is number one that gives it value to me. I would rather have a mint condition car with higher miles that a beat up piece of junk with low miles.
A '97 with 16k miles! That is unheard of

NADA says $4,812 for Clean retail. I'd say $4500 at the most, then again most people don't see a 1997 Bonneville worth $4500, even if it is mint and has low miles. To most people outside of here, a Bonneville is nothing more than a large FWD car.

Re: What's the value? 1997 SSE 40th anniversary with 16k mil
Moving to the proper section. This is not a mechanical topic.
The car is worth no more than any other car of the same year. Book value, and actually less. Nobody is buying and selling used cars at book value. Start 10% lower and be prepared to go down if selling, start 25% lower than book and come up if buying. Asking us the value of the car is like asking us what the weather is like. It varies by market.
YOU need to book the car out in your area and compare it to others to determine if it's priced fairly.

Thanks for all the replies... I was looking at car but jumped on it because I love the bonnie's.... It's mint. I know 40th really isn't anything. I bought it from an 81 year old women. Always garaged... Def worth more to me but couldn't pass up withbsuch low miles. Never thought I'd find one. Just the color isn't my fav. But not the worst. Verified mileage too. All ori paperwork. Can't believe it!

Sounds like you got a great buy.
I've been looking for a Mint bonneville for quite some time and they are few and far between and if you find one you have to jump on it and pay through the nose to get it.

If you don't mind spilling the beans, what did you end up paying?
Also, DITCH the gummed up dexcool A!S!A!P! and I'd also venture to guess the LIM gaskets are probably gone and will be due to the dex sitting and eating through them.
I know the plastic gaskets were shot in my 18k mile 2001 L67 when I got it in 2007.

White with taupe interior. I know about the dex but anyone think it's a good idea to change to the green antifreeze? I have to post pics, it's a real find for me. I love the bonnie's....

www.dex-cool.net Use prestone 'mixes with any' after you FULLY flush out the DEX.
Reb, your list shows mostly stock features that are available on nearly any model, any year. The only unique differences are:
RPO code Y40 on your RPO sticker.
C-Pillar badges
40th Floor mats.
Nothing else.

willren,
The point is that the 40th is a package of features/options that are not standard on an SE. Its not just floor mats and badges.
Find a 40th and you know for sure the car has leather, 16" rims and a spoiler.

As the owner of a 97 SSEi (200,000 miles) 40th edition in dark cherry metallic I'd say it's really not worth much more other then the fact some buyers maybe willing to pay more. I personally wouldn't pay extra for the 40th feature and I didn't when I purchased it since the previous owner knew nothing about that feature. As it stands now if someone offered me $1,500.00 cash for my car I'd say take it.

Re: What's the value? 1997 SSE 40th anniversary with 16k mil
Those are features available on any SE out there. They are not dependent on the Y40 code. We need to make sure that people fully understand the 40th cars only add floor mats, a badge, and a Y40 code. Nothing else different than any other Bonneville could have had.reb wrote:willren,

Re: What's the value? 1997 SSE 40th anniversary with 16k mil
Ok. So all the SE 40th's had the 5-spoke wheels.
What about the 40th SSEi? Was this a different package because almost all of these I've seen have chrome torque stars.
As well as, what did the floor mats look like?
As I have a 40th but no 40th floor mats....
