Remote Start Help

Post by b18jason »

I put a remote start in my 99 last fall, and it worked fine until about the middle of winter. Then i wouldn't work unless you left the key in the ignition. Most of winter when i lived in the country i didn't bother with it and just left a spare locked in it over night so the remote would work, but now i live in the city and i really don't want to leave a key in my car.

I've checked all my wiring twice and suspected the security bypass module. I put a new one in and set the resistance with no luck. The remote starter is powering the bypass module but the car won't turn over. I can hear the fuel pump prime and all the lights turn on. I used a test light on the yellow starter wire under the dash, and its being powered up, but for some reason it will only start if the key is in the ignition. Has anyone ever run into this before or does anyone have any ideas. Thanks in advance for any help.

It's your Bypass.

Use a different one, try IDataLink.com thats what I use.

Just make sure that when you buy one that its programed for your car at the time of purchase.
This only applies if its the "Multi Series". If its the Solo Series then you are good to go.

The way you can tell its the Bypass is because when the key is in the ignition then it Remote Starts. Its a dead give away.

What bypass are you using now ?
