By "raised white letters" do you mean the letters of the brand name on the tires? Coloring them white?

Yes, getting tires with raised white letters. IMO they should stay on original Muscle cars and Trucks.

Sooo...I had my dad take the wheels and tires into a friend's shop since I was unable to. I just got a call from him with some bad news. Apparently I have one tire mounted now, which took some paint off the edge of the rim. And two tires are apparently unbalanceable. Dad said they put all the wheels on the balancer w/o tires and they were all ok so the issue wasn't in the wheel, it's the tire. FYI I have two BFG KDWS's that have roughly 5k miles on them I think and two Goodyear RS-A's that still had some life left. It's the RS-A's I'm told that are junk. And since the paint came off one of the wheels they didn't bother mounting the other one yet.

So...yeah...postponed for the moment.

Sounds like there was somebody really un-experienced running that machine. If you have it set right it never touches the rim. Unless the paint was so soft the tire took it off, but I doubt that...

We know the guy really well, he's good friends with my dad. He should know what he's doing, but I'll find out for sure what's up when I get back home tomorrow.

It depends on the machine. I could mount my tires myself for free but the machine my buddy has doesn't have a plastic lip guide. It works fine for 16s and dumpy 17s/18s but takes a lot not to mess up the lip.

We had an older machine where I worked, just had a metal lip guide. I did a number of 20's on newer trucks, and the "beadless" rims on some cars (like what the GXP has) and I never messed up a bead. It's all in the setup, from what I've seen. Granted an ultra low profile tire would be different, but a 50 aspect ratio isn't hardly a low profile...

Looks like these wheels are tucked in under the fender a bit more. I never found a straight forward answer in my search for what our actual wheel offset is, other than high positive offset being 30-45mm IIRC. And there seems to be mixed opinions about the stock RX-8 offset as well.







What do you guys think?

Those white rims on your white car looks AWESOME! I wouldn't go around saying you 'snowballed' it, though. Might get a few funny looks. Hahaha.
