Headlight switch wiring

Series I L27 (1992-1994 SE,SLE, SSE) & Series II L36 (1995-1999 SE, SSE, SLE) and common problems for the Series I and II L67 (all supercharged models 92-99) Including Olds 88's, Olds LSS's, Olds 98 91-96, Buick Lesabres and Park Avenue 91-96. Headlight switch wiring

my 95 headlight switch/harness melted on the plug. i have a new switch/ harness from 92 both with twilight etc. wire colors are different but wondering if anyone here knows what color wires from the 95 i should connect to what colors on the 92 harness? Thank you in advance

I don't believe you can use the 92 switch. I think you want a 95-97. I would avoid the problematic 95 (it's a known serious problem) and look for a 96/97 switch.

Yes i think that is exactly what i am going to do i already changed out the 95 2 times im just going to move foward to the 97 and be done with it. Most likely get the parts tomorrow is there any wiring difference i should be aware of?

If you get the switch and the connector from the donor car, wire it by wire location, wire-by-wire, regardless of color. It should be a permanent fix.

I replaced mine last fall with a switch from a '97 and all the wires were the same colors except for one. If you go wire-by-wire, you won't mess up.
