another question,

can i loosen the wheels while the car is on the ground and them re-torque? or does the wheel have to be off the ground?

thanks

Most times the car has to be on the ground to be able to break them free after someone else has put them on. I always snug them in the air, put the car on the ground, then torque them. It would be impossible to torque them in the air.

Unless someone else held the brake pedal down while torquing.

i took the car for a drive and it handles really well. after i replaced the front rotors two weeks ago, the front wheels felt as if they had a slight wobble. i use a cross bar to tighten the lug nuts, probably too tight. after torquing them to specs, it feels as if that took care of the problem!!!!

i think i will leave her parked for the hurricane, since my truck does better in the rain, its like driving above the rain thats flying around from other cars, which makes visibility a lot better. plus it weighs about 5,000lbs!

thanks guys

It's not the over-torque, it's un-even torque.
