Part Interchangeability between 92 & 95 SSEi ???

Post by Dutch2005 »

Hi everyone,

Does anyone know which parts are interchagable or not, between 92 & 95 SSEi's ?

I just bought a 95 not to long ago and I'm starting to switch over parts from my 92 which is rusted out all over.

Thanks in Advance,
Dutch

It would be a big list either way. Can you narrow it down to the kinds of things you'll want to swap?

Fuel system including tank, pump/sender, lines (92 has nylon plastic lines), injectors & rail.

Also what is the difference between the S/C, is it only the coating on the blades ?
Is the intake manifold the same for both years ?

The 92 has alot of new parts from my repairs, but the body & frame are badly rotted.

The 95 I purchased was half ass maintained with the cheapest aftermarket parts, but the body and frame are in better condition than the 92.

I've already installed new brake lines and I plan to swap the gas tank & lines from the 92 over to the 95. Since the lines are plastic I don't have to worry about them rusting out.
Just wondering about fit and compatibiliy, fuel pressure, electrical connectors, etc ?

Is there anything that is known to go on the 95 Bonne's that I should look to grab off the 92 ?

Thanks,
Dutch

Injectors and rail are the same. I think the pump is the same, but not positive, sender may be different. Tank should be swappable (though 95's may be more robust, some report broken baffles in 92 tanks).

SC inlet and matching TB are larger on the 95, along with the rotor coating. I'd keep the 95's if you plan on running the 95's PCM.

Intake manifolds are a bit different, but swappable. There's speculation that the 92 flows better/consistantly from one cylinder to the next, and in my experience, the 95 manifold resulted in a smoother exhaust note. There's walls in the 95 that seem to goof up flow a little, but help sound. I'd probably keep the 95.

K thanks

The tank and sender/pump on the 92 is not original. I changed them after having the stall problems on turns, only a couple years old.

I'm going to keep the original S/C and manifold on the 95 unless it becomes a problem.
I already removed the s/c off the 92 as it was a rebuilt from Canadian s/c and its only a couple of years old, so its a spare.
Should I bother grabing the manifold off the 92 or just let it go with the car ?

Any other known problems with the 95's electrical or mechanical ?

Thanks,
Dutch

Someone that want's a ported LIM might want that one, so keep it to sell or get ported for yourself.

The 92 SC won't be a good match for your 95. The nose drive is swappable, but I'd sell it to a 92/93 owner. The inlet size difference would restrict flow.

The 95's fuel rail has a 2.7bar FPR in it. The 92 is a 3.0bar. Don't mix them up.

The fuel pump and sender MAY not work.....there's some odd crap that happened part way through the 95 model year.

So I have two last questions............

On the 92 there are washer fluid jets for the headlights but none on the 95. Is that feature unique to the 92-93 models or has someone replaced the bumper on my 95 ?

Also the wipers tuck under the hood on the 92 when you shut them off, but on the 95 they stay up on the windshield (looks like crap). Is this feature also a 92-93 only ?
The wiper motors are different part numbers according to the labels on them but on gmpartsdirect.com they say they are the same motor for 92-95, they also look like the connectors are the same.

Thanks for the help,

Dutch

The washers were removed as an option in 94 or 95, IIRC.

The wipers should tuck.
