fuel line repair kit?

Post by Troyport »

This is for my 1999 Olds eighty-eight. I changed the fuel filter last night, and the 3 lines are real crispy at the fuel filter area. On this car the nylon lines come off the tank almost to the frame rail. That section just in front of the rear wheel is nasty, but they are still shiny about 12 inches further toward the front of the car. Is there a kit of some sort that replaces this section of all 3 lines? thanks, Mike.

There you go: http://www.amazon.com/Dorman-800-300-Qu ... B000XQ5IO4

You can also get sections of metal brake/fuel line that you can flare to fit in there with union fittings. Dorman makes the sections of steel line that fit the existing fittings. They're not cheap, however.

One line is the vapor line, so I could patch that with fuel line hose. One line is the return, I can do the same on that, I can't imagine that carries much pressure. The feed line is the one I am concerned about.. it has a threaded fitting that goes into the fuel filter. That should be steel. Is that piece of steel tubing available, and what is the best way to splice it into the rest of the fuel line? I would also love to keep the connectors on the nylon line. I would think there would be a 3-pc kit that replaced all 3 lines, needing a splice about under the right rear door. What have others done?

I did the Dorman steel fuel line repair since just the fuel filter was pooched on my car. The other 2 lines were intact, so I let them alone. If the other lines go, I'm getting that kit and re-doing all of the lines in nylon.
