Help with my new Intense FWI

Post by Barry »

Ok, I'm not a genius, but I'm not stupid either. I just did my LIM P&P, gaskets and UIM, no problem. Runs like a champ and I'm not new with a wrench. However, I need help with this FWI, specifically the PCM tray. Nothing seems intuitively obvious when looking where things are supposed to go, even after reading the instructions. For locating the new supplied PCM tray the instructions say: " Mount the suppied tray in place where the stock air box was located". The tray has a couple of mounting holes, and two supplied sheet metal screws I think are for that, but I can't figure out the orientation of where this thing is supposed to go. I would greatly appreciate help, and pictures if possible. Also, is the air filter just supposed to dangle down in the canister hole, touching the air dam down there? Even with it that far down, it looks like I am going to have to cut some of the 3.5 inch tubing as it seems like it will be to long. I was sorta imagining the back of the filter would be flush with the canister hole, but then I would have to cut quite a bit more of the tubing. Thanks a bunch in advance. I am real anxious to get this thing installed and try it out. :beerchug:

I couldn't wait around for an answer to this post. Had to try this thing out. Still don't have an answer to if the filter just sets in the fenderwell unsecured pressed up against the air dam. That's how mine is and as you can see from the second pic, the hose still seems to be slightly long, causing a hump that could be eliminated if is shortened the hose. And BTW those of you that think a gutted airbox with a hiflow filter will even come half-a$$ed close to this FWI, think again. I could not believe what this set-up does to performance.

My PCM is zip-tied to the side of the engine bay along the fender. It seems to be holding up just fine there anyway.
The trays are made for the 2000+ models from what I can tell.

even then it's kind of an awkward fit. cut that tube down, mine was like that out of lazyness until sonomazr2 mentioned to me that it was actually hurting flow having that weird bend in the tubing instead of a gradual curve.
