Re: WCBF11 - Oregon July 19 - 24
Going to confirm time off this week, I think I've got the car to a point where a road trip is in order. Will most likely be on my own, and probably gonna tent it at the KOA, but would appreciate any ideas on potential tent sites, not sure if BC has already reserved a bunch of sites or what, but any assistance with a stumbling distance site would be great. The countdown is on!

Well, I have confirmed my time off with the boss, but have just realized I wont be able to get in to the U.S. without a new enhanced license, so I'll be getting on that right away, should only take a week or so apparently. I dont know what you guys pay to renew DL's, but here the new enhanced license is going to cost me about $110!! That's about $40 more than last time I renewed! Total cash grab.

Re: WCBF11 - Oregon July 19 - 24
Well, sorry all, but at this point, it apprears I won't be making it to WCBF, again, this year.
Lot's happening in life, but mainly, my oldest daughter has just uncoverered a health issue that is going to require more specialists visits and possible radiation treatments or surgery. Lots of other little things happening as well that just keeps piling up on my plate.
I am not entirely ruling out that I won't make it, but given the current situation and timing of things, I figured its best to take my name of the "I'll be there for sure" list. Depending on what happens and when, I just don't feel right abandoning the family for days, and leaving my wife to take care of everything. I am sure you guys understand.
Of course, if I don't make it, I will be checking in often to keep up with everything that's going on during the meet.

Sorry to hear of the health issues, Bob. I hope all goes well with you and your family, we understand that sometimes, life gets the upper hand, and a person has to do whats right.
I too, will most likely not make it. I would not be able to leave Medicine Hat for my 15 journey until Tuesday afternoon, and simpley put, its the not the most economical trip at the moment. Too many other things to fix/replace/pay for at the moment. I really want to be there guys, just not going to happen from the looks of it.

Re: WCBF11 - Oregon July 19 - 24
I'm still holding out a sliver of hope.
We went to one of the specialists yesterday for my daughter and they have provided a 10-12 month medication option (with monitoring) instead of radiation or surgery right away. If we go that route and all is calm enough at the homefront, I would hope I would be able to make a mad dash to Oregon. Might be a "leave here on Wednesday, get to Oregon on Thursday, and leave Monday morning" trip, but I'd still take that over not going at all. It's been too long since I have been up there. I'll keep everyone posted and as the meet gets closer, I'll be better able to tell whether I can swing it or not.

Re: WCBF11 - Oregon July 19 - 24
My Methanol injection crapped out during the Edmonton trip.
Darn check valve failed again! The pump doesn't work well against a stuck closed check valve. Methanol is a biatch for corrosion....and I even drained it over the winter storage period.
It didn't affect the drive much since the weather was cool and I was running with the big 3.4" pulley.
I could tell right away when the temperature didn't drop under boost from 180F to 100F. It just bumped up to around 170F and slowly dropped back to 130F at an ambient of 70F. Still had no problem waxing the 750Li Bimmer.
I was however disappointed that only 91 octane was available in Alberta! Sheez.....the province with the most oil and gas reserves in the world next to Saudi Arabia and no high octane fuel!!
At least my Firebird is not that sensitive to needing ultra high octane since it's compression ratio is less than 9:1
....it's only downfall is lack of A/C but it does have 2WD40.

Woops, I take some of that back.
The solenoid was fine. The injection nozzle screen was plugged with debris.
Seems like it's been a couple years since I last checked it.

Two more weeks..
I'm getting a 4 month insurance policy for the Firebird tomorrow.
The rain is supposed to stop later today and it won't begin again until Nov.1
We going to leave on July 16 and spend the weekend in Victoria visiting our son Victor, then leave on Monday for the blast to Oregon.

Well, the enhanced licence could not be guarranteed to be here by my departure time, so I've opted to renew my passport instead, should be here by the 15th! The hardest thing was keeping my signature inside the shaded box, which is virtually impossible, I wrecked about 4 applications before I got it right! I'm really looking forward to getting off this rock for a bit and hitting the highway. I plan on taking the ferry to Port Angeles, and then east and south around the Cascades, I hear it's a great drive down.

We'll discuss it on Thursday night and decide as a group over some liquid persuasion.
If I race without drag tires, you'll have to give me a 1/2 second lead.

The new distributor cap, rotor and vacuum advance can was adjusted to 14 degrees advance or total timing of 34-36 degrees initial plus centrifugal was installed today.
I'm beginning to smell burning rubber.
Will it be old school vs new school vs army school vs Bonne school?
We'll all be in the 13-14 sec range and should be able to qualify at +100 mph.....hmmmm.....we'll see......
Guaranteed we'll have plenty of pit crew....and smell plenty of burning rubber.
