Who is the best source for GM Parts?

Post by BlownNitroPontiac »

I need a high pressure power steering hose.

GMPartsdirect.com is a ripoff with their shipping charges.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

It depends on the parts you need. For things like a tune-up, try Advance Auto. Go to their web site, shop, when you checkout, use the promotion code BIG25 or BIG35 depending on your total. BIG25 is for orders $60 or more, BIG35 is for orders $85 or more. Pay for it online, select store pickup and go pick it up at the store.

NAPA is another good place as well as O'Reilly Auto, GMPartsDirect, Amazon, eBay and XL Auto Parts. It just depends on what parts you get. You'll have to price check. I am sure others on the board have more really good suggestions. - BC

With GMPD, the shipping charge is their profit (minus actual shipping, of course). The listed price is pretty much what the part costs them to begin with.

www.monsterpartsonline.com is another source of GM parts.

As stated, gmpartsdirect actually sells their stuff at cost...then they rape you on shipping to make their profit. When I worked for the dealer, I could get parts at 10% above cost. My cost was MORE than gmpartsdirect sold for....untill you added their rediculous shipping charges. Then they were a little more than what I could get the parts for at employee pricing. So, even though they charge a crap load for shipping, it's still cheaper than paying full retail at the dealer.

On a side note, is your hose leaking to the point that it drips? Or is it just seeping and not actually dripping? If it's just seeping, I wouldn't worry too much about it. Most high pressure p/s hoses tend to seep eventually, but last for years before they start to drip.

I've installed the Gates high pressure hose in several of my Bonnevilles. They fit good, are well made, and have had no problems so far.

Got them on RockAuto for like $15. Don't forget the club discount: http://www.pontiacbonnevilleclub.com/fo ... f=8&t=1677

They are just like any other site like GMPD. They are just a dealer that sells parts at cost, and then charges crazy shipping amounts.

RockAuto is where its at.
