Re: PUT A SUPERCHARGER IN A SE??
The most cost-effective and reliable way to do it by far is to sell your SE and buy an SSEi.
The next best option is to swap the entire drivetrain. Motor, transmission, engine wiring harness, PCM, axles. You will still have a car that lacks the SSEi's suspension, handling, and extra perks (better seats, Head up display, etc).
The worst option in terms of reliability is a full top swap, keeping the weaker pistons and rods, and the weaker transmission.
You better have a big budget to start. They are not the same motor, and the transmissions differ enough to rule them out as well. Click the Techinfo link at the top of the page and you'll find more info.

Re: PUT A SUPERCHARGER IN A SE??
Can you? Yeah, it's been done quite a bit, especially in the Grand Prix community. However, it requires much more than the Supercharger. You'll need everything from the heads up, as well as a supercharged car's balancer and accessory drive setup, along with the wiring harness and PCM, or a full drivetrain swap, like willwren suggested.
You want the S/C w/o the work? Sell the SE, buy an SSEi. Not only do you gain the S/C and the better trans, you get Heads Up Display, leather interior, memory seats, factory boost gauge and DIC, 8 speaker stereo, SSEi body cladding, 17" Wheels and 235/55R17 tires, better suspension and a few other things I'm probably forgetting. Unless this SE is the car for you, save up the difference and get a nice, lower mile, good condition SSEi. You'll be much better off.

Re: PUT A SUPERCHARGER IN A SE??
Yes you can. I planned on doing this, but I"m selling my 99 SE soon. I have the whole kit you need to do it, and I'm selling it cheap for $300. Where are you located?

There's no way in H E L L you can get everything you need to do it RIGHT for $300, even at a bargain price. Top-swapping is the least-viable alternative to the whole mess.

Re: PUT A SUPERCHARGER IN A SE??
I bought the whole kit from Morad, now I'm just trying to sell it. The only thing that he would need would be gaskets and etc. I agree Top Swaping isn't the best option. But some Grand Prix guys swear buy it.willwren wrote:There's no way in H E L L you can get everything you need to do it RIGHT for $300, even at a bargain price. Re: PUT A SUPERCHARGER IN A SE??
Some Grand Prix guys also have their own tuners and drive cars that don't weigh what ours do (far less stress on the transmission).

Re: PUT A SUPERCHARGER IN A SE??
This is true. I'm not disagreeing at all here with you. I think he should do his full research on any engine modding; as much as he possibly can. Alot more can be found on the grand Prix forums in this department as they tend to take their performance pretty seriously. And you can also learn from the idiots mistakes on there. Not to be conceded on here. But the people on here who have done performance mods are very well educated and know what they are doing. Such as Zilla himself. So my advice to you would be learn as much as you can on here. Then do some research on other forums.willwren wrote:Some Grand Prix guys also have their own tuners and drive cars that don't weigh what ours do (far less stress on the transmission).

Re: PUT A SUPERCHARGER IN A SE??
I couldn't agree more. I love my Bonneville and all, but I'm looking at the GXPs really hard right now. It's winning over GTOs in mind just for the fact I love having a big car, but I have my heart set on a V8 for my next car. But that leaves me no room to complain about gas prices, also something to keep in mind...01bonneSC wrote:I say just buy an SSEi

Well if you like modding or are going to mod, is go with an ssei. No aftermarket for the N*, unless you meant GP Gxp, then you get the LS engine.99BonnevilleSE wrote:I couldn't agree more. Well after doing some research, there is mods available. Tuners are available now. HP Tuners works on the Northstar now. http://www.chrfab.com makes some stuff. Plus I have a few other tricks up my sleeve01bonneSC wrote:Well if you like modding or are going to mod, is go with an ssei. thelycan, he can't use parts from that generation of SSEi. It's a different motor.
