Time to sell the 02
Hey everyone. well its time to sell the ssei but before i post it in the for sale section, I wanted to get some honest opinions of how much to let it go for. Its a silver 02 with 91k on it, a CAI from JMB performance, powder coated red, along with some other nice dress up parts in the motor. Got a set of coils from MSD brand new, never put on, upgraded to the larger camaro calipers in front, stainless steel brake lines front and back, extended AIT harness and a pcm tray. New front brakes and rotors(less than 300 miles) newer rear brakes, decent tread on tires, and everything works just perfect on the car. Only down side, will be needing new air shocks in the rear. even have the air kit that came from the factory in the trunk. I hope i get some good ideas and honest opinions about what I should ask for it. Thanks in advance guys, happy motoring!

Re: Time to sell the 02
Well you dont really get more money for performance parts and stuff.
So you are looking at basically blue book prices.

Re: Time to sell the 02
I gotcha about the parts, but at least they help a little. KBB lists it in good condition with the mileage at $7300 private party sale and its somewhere between good and excellent condition. I was actually surprised to be honest. Excellent condition, add another $500 on top of that. But at least it gives me a good starting point. Im looking more for what people on the forum think rathat than just KBB.

Re: Time to sell the 02
Take off any performance/aftermarket parts and sell seperate, otherwise they aren't really going to increase the value of the car unless you find the right buyer... most of the time, they will decrease the value.
I'd say around $7000. I have a new set of rear shocks if you're interested.

Re: Time to sell the 02
Why are you selling it?
I do concur w/ harofreak, remove all your performance parts that you can and replace the rear shocks. That will make people feel much better about the car overall if they're not coming into the deal w/ it needing parts or having aftermarket parts if they just want a DD.

Got another kid on the way and just dont have the time or money to really develop this car at the same time as my other one. I still have all the stock parts and it runs better the way it is now. hate to let it go but its time.

Re: Time to sell the 02
As one who is actively shopping for Bonne's right now, I'd say ask for $7K (list at $6995, of course) and accept offers above $6500. Emphasize low mileage and that everything works. Lower prices by $250 every two weeks. If you can't get at least $5750, then instead of going lower make that your asking price and say "price is firm." Then hold out as long as you can, without further reductions. You should be able to find a buyer at that price (if not higher.) If you can't get at least that much then something is wrong (rust?) that is turning people away from it.
That's my two cents; somebody else may have two more...

Re: Time to sell the 02
Hey thanks for the advice ken. I listed it in craiglist for $6900. We'll see if someone bites on it. To be honest, id rather see it go to someone here on the forums, who I know will appreciate the car and take good care of it. If anyone is interested, they should pm me and we could probably work out a deal. Thanks again..

Re: Time to sell the 02
I'd be interested if it was an SLE... Oh well.
You might be able to find interest here at the Club; why not take some photos and put up a listing in our For Sale section? It's free, and you never know if it could lead to a sale unless you try. You could also make a link to your Craigslist post.

Probably because they are similar features wise but SLE gets better gas mileage and uses regular.

Keep your foot out of it, and they should be pretty similar..
Yeah the need for premium bites, but it's $4.00 extra per fill-up at the most. That's less than a pack of smokes.

Re: Time to sell the 02
Even if premium is $.20 more than regular, if your tank is BONE dry it's $3.60 more per tank. Premium means low risk of damage and better mileage. It's worth the little extra.

Re: Time to sell the 02
I had an SLE last year until my son totalled it. I was able to average 26 mpg. Then I bought my SSEi, and now I can only manage 21 mpg. My commute and driving style is the same -- the only difference is the cars driven. This, plus the need for premium fuel, comes out to about $70/month in fuel cost for me more than I would have to pay with an SLE. I drive for fuel efficiency and do not have a heavy foot. I have tuned up the SSEi (using Beast00's list), and do not believe I will see better than 19 city / 27 hwy out of it. Thus -- I want to get back into an SLE. I was able to get 32 hwy in my SLE.
If gas prices were lower I would stay put, but they are what they are.
