1998 SSEi Struts

Post by aCiD »

Can I use 98 SE struts on my car? I don't give a *shoot* about the electronic adjustable ride stuff, I just want it back to being safe.

If so what is the best part number of rock auto to use that's not complete crap and affordable?

Thanks!

You can't get the CCR struts, but the struts that are available do have load leveling. You want to keep load leveling, it's a calculated part of your suspension, and makes the car much nicer to drive with people in the backseat and luggage in the trunk.

Monroe Sensatraks are recommended. MONROE Part # 71798 is what appears to be right, but I'll wait for someone who knows for sure to chime in.

That confirms my post. The 71798 are for the rears, the fronts are 71822.

And will work on the 98 SSEi?

rock lists 81822 for the front and 81798 for the rear.

Yes, they will. Those are the gas matic struts. Notice how just the first # is different? I'd venture a guess that the first number designates the model.

If you wanna keep decent handling go with sensatraks all around. Might cost a bit more, but otherwise you won't be happy with your performance.

600 was a air to air intercooler Vortech setup.

700+ is my Kenne Bell air to water cooled setup.
