It lasted 3.5 years, but I got a fix it ticket for tint the other day when I was in East Grand Forks, across the ND-MN border. I got by for a long time because even though it's registered in MN, the tint laws in ND are a lot less restrictive than MN, so ND cops don't even look for it really, and I spend most of my time in ND.

Anyway, I used the garment steamer to loosen the glue and it peels off pretty easily, without leaving behind much glue. I guess it's time to go legal now.

Yep, I was really worried about damaging the defroster and antenna in the back windows, but it went smoothly.

For Comparison

in ND you can have anything on rear doors and rear window, but MN is 50% on all side and rear windows.

I have had a fix it ticket for mine once before..I have 20% on my front and 5% in the back. MI law is anything in the back but nothing in the front. So what I did before I took the ticket over was called around to junk yards and got myself a set of clear windows from another Bonneville. Worked out nicely, pretty good deal on them. And did the ole switch before I took it in. Best plan I've ever had :) It's a good investment if you want to do it.

I thought about doing that, but I would have had to do the back windows then, and I didn't want to risk them asking questions on why the small window on the rear door still had it.

The officer told me that he was only concerned about the front two windows for now, but I chose to take it all because 1. it didn't say just front windows on the ticket, and I knew he wouldn't be the one signing it off, and 2. Whose to say they we're going to pull me over as I left the parking lot and ticket me for the rest of it.

I think I'm just going to have Kevin Knapp from Shaded Image tint it again this summer, but I'll stay legal this time. (He did it the first time as well). I'm also currently looking into getting ND plates for it, some states allow a Non-resident to register a car, but I'm not sure if ND allows it. I'm still a MN resident, but I live in ND year-round, except for when I come home every few weekends.

They would probably ask why you haven;t changed your residence to ND since you spend most of your time there only exception I see would be military. And most states if you have an address within thier state you can register a vehicle in that state... When I was in the Marines I had an Indiana Licenese and Cali tags and then NC tags.. then Indiana tags... (4 diff cars....)

Thats pretty much what I was saying, but I'm not sure if ND is one of those states. and Ya I'm still a student, so I don't have to change residency, as long as I return home every so often (I do, but who's keeping track even if i didn't).

I've defintely considered a light tint on mine, very similar to what I had on my GP, just enough to help the a/c out abit during the hot n' sunny cooker days.

BTW, love the progressive pics you posted, ticket/steamer/end result...LOL!
