car will not start, starter fried? maybe?

well, i installed my throttle body spacer,
went to go start the car, and it will not start,
it clicks like it wants to turn over, but no juice,
jumping it did nothin, had a mechanic buddy take a looksy,
he said the starter is fried,
so i walked down to the local autozone, had the part ordered,
itll be here tmrw,

my problem is, how the hell could i fry the starter? it doesnt make sense.

When you try to start the car, do everything electric in the car just die out and come back on? To me it sounds like a loose or bad connection on the battery. I can't a starter just dying like that.

yea, itll crank, click once, and all the electrical just resets, gauges, radio, etc.

i double checked connections with the battery, and it looked fine.
another thing i noticed tho, is coolant was in the tb, i guess it leaked a little, and got on the maf sensor.

could that do the deadly deed? and make the car not start? im so confused how it just decided to *shoot* the bed.

If you found coolant in the throttle body then you probably have coolant in the cylinders that is preventing the engine from turning over. We refer to this as hydrolocking. Remove all six spark plugs & see if it turns over. Don't keep trying to start it with the plugs installed.

took all 6 plugs out, coolant on all of em, how do i get the coolant out of there? this is gonna suck i know it.

I'd turn the crank one turn by hand & then spin it over with the starter. You should install new plugs after you find & fix the leak.

how would i turn it by hand? take the belts off and all that?

i was gonna grab new plugs anyway cuz these ones look burnt up a little, about 3000 miles on em only tho.

You can put a ratchet on the crank bolt or even on the alternator. It'll turn easy without the plugs installed. No need to remove the belts. It's rare but we have seen the nose broken off the starter on hydrolocked engines. If the starter sounds funny or looks crooked then you'll have to remove it & inspect.

24mm! haha bought 5 different sizes, then returned the rest.

ok so i turned it like 3 full rotations, alot dribbled out,
then i kicked it over twice with the plugs out,
a bunch shot out, and a little fuel along with it,
i then replaced the plugs, and wires, and went to start it up,
it went to start, turned over died, turned over like almost started,
then died, now it just clicks like the plugs are sparking, but no turn over,

did i flood it?

this is so aggravating..

You could've also removed the connector from the ICM and turned it over w/ the starter.

TB Spacer = waste of $$$ unless it's adapting a N* or something, but that's for a different topic. We need to know why there was coolant in your engine. I know you've had the LIM gaskets replaced, but that's about the only place it could've come from unless your TB gasket was leaking.

the tb spacer is for when i do the n* conversion.

the tb gasket was leaking when i turned the car over after installation

Were all the mounting surfaces clean?

Did you check the flatness of the TB spacer before install?

What did you torque the TB to?

and 89lbs like the instructions said,

but one of the bolts didnt seat right in the bottom, it ripped out one or two layers of threads, idk why, the oem bolt was all corroded, so i guess thats what the issue was cuz thats where it was leaking, theres no leak anymore, i took the whole thing apart, and retightened the bolt into the sc, then replaced all parts to spec, everything is 100% now with the tb, no leaks, all works properly, but im pretty sure i flooded the engine when i was turnin it over, cuz its sparking, you can hear it, but no vroom vroom. sadmike right now.
