Service Stability System
I`m driving about 80mph then I hear the "bing" sound. I see service stability system on my data also my anti lock and trac off is lite at my cluster. Should I be worried? The past 2 weeks my low tire pressure has been shown on the data too. Tires look fine but even if they`re not could that be the reason for the stability system to show up?

Wheel speed sensor. All of those things are directly related to the wheel speed sensor in the hub. Take it somewhere and see if they can tell you which one it is. You'll have to replace the whole wheel bearing/hub assembly.

Re: Service Stability System
I`ve drove about 300 miles with the issue. Wheel bearing? I don`t see any grease spinning out but I`ll double check tomorrow morning.

Re: Service Stability System
It's the sensor within the bearing. Likely the bearing is fine, but the sensor is part of the assembly, and not serviceable.
Also, they don't throw grease, those are the axles.

Re: Service Stability System
Does it need to be scanned or can I check it manually?

Re: Service Stability System
You could check the resistance with a multi-meter.

Re: Service Stability System
You may have to spin them and see what the resistance does.

While spinning them, check for AC voltage, not resistance.

Re: Service Stability System
Since it`s trac does that mean it`s the front wheels? Also, is this a dealer part or junk yard part?

No, the rears affect it all too.
Dealer, Junkyard or Auto parts store. Take your pick.

Could it be just the connection at the wheel?00Beast wrote:Wheel speed sensor. All of those things are directly related to the wheel speed sensor in the hub. Take it somewhere and see if they can tell you which one it is. You'll have to replace the whole wheel bearing/hub assembly.
I'd suggest lifting each corner and disconnecting and reconnecting the sensor leads that are right there at the wheel.
I'd start with the fronts and see which one eliminates your DIC message, if either one does.
The quality tire store told me that one of my bearings was loose when they did a rotation of my Michelins. They said the service stability system message is one symptom I might have seen. The bearing was loosened, but I'm not sure if it was more than the .005 mentioned in the service manual (which I believe is an in/out movement tolerance). The tire moved about 1/8 to 3/16 inch. The other wheel had no perceptible top/bottom movement on the tire.
But I would occasionally get a service stability system message--but always when at slow speeds making turns in parking lots while turning the steering wheel from one side to the other.
I replaced it the next day myself with a Timken from Autozone--didn't have time to wait for Rockauto to deliver at 2/3 the price.

Re: Service Stability System
I haven`t checked it yet but the message is always on now no matter what speed, slow or fast. Once I start the car and start to move it the message comes on.

Re: Service Stability System
Had it scanned today. First Autozone but their scanner wouldn`t pick up the code, they said because the ABS light is on it`s a ABS issue so only the dealer can code it
Then I went across the street to Advance. They just got a new scanner in and I`m the first to use it. It picked the check tire pressure and said the LH front speed sensor
Their computer shows 2 kinds of sensors and looks like 2 different plugs. I`ll unplug mine, clean it, reinstall and go from there. If nothing happens I`ll get a new one. Thanks guys for the help
I`m so used to rear wheel drive cars with alot less electronics. I`m still learning these new cars.

Re: Service Stability System
Why are there so many hubs and whjich one do I use? The 513179? I want to fix this issue so i can sell the car. It doesn`t look good with all the warning lights on in the cluster

Re: Service Stability System
I agree. I've tried various other hubs, and while the hubs seem to be fine, the wheel speed sensors die early.
