I would have thought "SNAP" in about 4 weeks.
My junkyard donor is holding up for about 2 months now.
I even tightened the springs so my lid doesn't fall down
and hit me in the head on my steep driveway.
If it breaks, maybe I will have it welded too.

I also had this issue and welded it back together, reinstalled it on the lowest setting. Still working after 3 years.
