Window regultator?

The front windows in my Impala are getting scratched when I open and close them. Is this a sign of regulator failure or is it more likely that I have a stone or two stuck in there?

have you taken the panel off to visually inspect? That would be my first suggestion.

I had the door panel off but not the water shield (don't have any adhesive to put it back on with) today and looked around. I couldn't see anything, but the weather stripping for the outside of the window was kind of dirty so I cleaned it off good. I can't hear any scratching now so that may have fixed it.

Can you describe the scratches? Location? Quantity?

They are vertical scratches, probably between 5 and 10 on each window. They are in a group more towards the center and maybe 12 inches long at the most. I'll see if I can get a picture of them tomorrow.

While I doubt it is from the regulator, if it was, it would be in the middle about 2" wide at the most.

On my 2k there was some scratches starting on the tint in the corner by the mirror. I found that someone did not fasten the wiring harness correctly and it was rubbing on the glass and scratching the tinted film.
