'01 SSEi aftermarket install

This is your place for alarms, remote starters, to brag about your system, exaggerate your db levels, or simply ask questions for stock or aftermarket audio. No Flames! (except from roasted amps)

'01 SSEi aftermarket install

Post by mlkmgr »

I apologize if this has been asked/posted before but my internet has been waaay slow these last couple days. took 2 minutes to load this page and trying to search just isnt happening.

as the title states I am attampting to install an aftermarket HU in my cousin's 2001 SSEi. I am using the scosche GM07B wiring harness but cannot get the unit to power on. Am I better off just hard wiring the constant, switched, ground, etc? or will this harness suffice? secondly, is there any other info needed for this install? i am pretty sure there is an aftermarket amp somewhere in here but just uncertain where and if I need to wire the remote turn on to the factory amp somehow.

Thanks to anyone that can offer any advice.

Title of the post says SSEi, so I'd say yes. (Bose was standard equipment on SSEi, right?)

IIRC the switched power was not exactly where one wouldve expected. I only use the factory power wires so i just hardwired them, its been so long I cant recall exactly where I had to pull power from.

Scosche has pretty good tech support. Not perfect mind you but sometimes the mfg. of the parts is the best bet. Please come back and share if you learn the secrets from them.

There was something on my harness that was like pen 3 and 6. Used 3 for 00-01 and 6 for 02+. Might be worth looking into.
