Black car help...
Black car help...
I have a black 01 SSEi. Everytime I try to wax this car it looks excellent in the shade, the second it hits the light, it looks like I grabbed a cheesburger and waxed the car with it. It looks like greasy residue. Dosnt matter what kind of rags or wax I use... is there something I am missing here?! (I didn't have this problem with my 98 Trans am which was black either...)

Ok, lets see here....
What wax are you currently using, and what have you tried in the past?
What "rags" are you using to remove the wax? You should be using a good quality micro fiber towel.
What is your wash method?
Can you possible take some pictures of what the results are?
We will get you all fixed in no time
Meanwhile, check this link out -- Good how to washing and detailing videos

Re: Black car help...
are you using a "black wax"? its only for black cars. meguires (spelling) gold class makes it i think. My dad uses it on his black car and i want to make love to the car every time he uses it... haha. no "greasy" look as far as i've noticed...

I use Megs Gold Class Wax and it looks awesome when Im done, both in the sunshine and shade. Its just a shame that I park it in the garage and the next day it is already a little dusty. haha I would try a different wax, unless is gold class, cause I know that works well.

I use gold class as well. It looks awesome. My only issue is that I live in the country with a 400 yd gravel driveway. No matter how slow i drive, it gets dusty, even though i live on a tar road. Oh, well it still looks good.viper8907 wrote:I use Megs Gold Class Wax and it looks awesome when Im done, both in the sunshine and shade. It might not hurt to try a clay bar treatment.... It will get EVERYTHING off the paint and give you a good base for a good quality wax (i.e. NOT turtle wax IMO). Or even better yet, go for some Liquid Glass which goes on easier, and lasts longer than regular wax.

X2
i use LG and it lasts a long time. i know willwren did a month long test of it agains meg's gold class wax, and you could EASILY see that LG out shined the wax. and that black wax that i talked about that my dad uses is Turtle Wax, but i'm sure other brands make it to. i would suggest starting with that

Re: Black car help...
Some times it helps to "set" the wax after you're finished. Get a clean spray bottle and fill it with cold water. Lightly mist the car after you've removed the last coat of wax, and buff the mist off with a clean micro-fiber. Seems to help with darker colored finishes.
