Brake Pad Replacement

Post by Aviator327 »

Took my car in for service last week to have the transmission fluid changed. (58K). The service rep said my front brake pads are starting signs of wear and should be replaced. He quoted me a price of 158.00. One of my relatives takes his car to a good mechanic he has known for years and said he could do it if I buy the parts. Looking for suggestions on what would be a good brand of brake pads to get for my Bonne. Thanks.

I'd recommend a name brand top-shelf ceramic. (Wagner, Akebono, NAPA Ultra Premium, etc). If the front rotors aren't warped, don't let them machine the rotors, tell him to just do the pads.

I asked the service rep about the rotors and he said the rotors are okay. Just needed new pads. Thanks for the reply.

Have Wagner Ceramics in the front of my Montana. Stop-on-a-dime they are. Great pads.

I have AutoZone Duralast Gold C-max brake pads on both of my vehicles, and have been happy with them. They also have a Lifetime Warranty, so when they wear out I can take them back to any AutoZone and get replacements.

Same. I've been happy with the same pads. Already replaced them once under warranty when getting new rotors after the cheapies warped. They stop very well.

Doing pads on these cars is almost as easy as changing the oil... why not do it yourself?
