Bad Idle
Bad Idle
So my 94 SSEI cuts off sometimes with a werid idle.. This is what happens. as im driving down the road and i see a stop light i will apply the breaks slow and steady. The car slows and after a few sec. of breaking the car breaks harder without applying more force to the break pedal. As all this is happening my boost gauge is going back and forth from -10 to 0 and my revs dip down and clime. This is also causes the car to jerk some. The effects all go away as soon as i apply the gas pedal and start going again. Some times the car will shut off on me and other times it just jerks to a stop and once im stopped the car runs back to a normal idle. My motor is sounding kindof loud at the moment and was not sure if maybe the supercharger had no oil in it. OK guys let the replies start.. and thanks to everyone!

Re: Bad Idle
Initial thought? Catalytic converter is plugged up. It is louder because the backpressure is forcing exhaust out other places where it shouldn't be. Anything above idle is enough to overpower the blockage, and force exhaust out due to the extra pressure from running it. I bet it is only bad when it is warmed up, and I bet the power is not what it once was.

Re: Bad Idle
not sure if this is the Case. When i start off when the car is cold it hesitates, but not under breaking. when the car is hott it dose what i described above. anyway is there a way to unblock the Catalytic converter or check to see if this is the actual problem?
