Considering a 99 SSEi - what's the history like post 150k

Post by sjhe »

I'm looking at a 1999 SSEi with 150k miles. Price seems right and seems like everything is running well.
Carfax looked good. I've had good luck with Pontiacs ('86 600STE 500k+) but wanted to get a feel for this baby as she gets older and down the road a bit. Anything that seems to show up a lot?

Thanx for your insight.

LIM gaskets are an eventuality. They make good aluminum replacememts. At 150k, they may or may not have been replaced by now. The tranny could be good to go for a while if it wasn't abused. Beyond that, nothing major is coming to mind.

The thing I'd be most worried about is the transmission. If it has been replaced or rebuilt everything else will be small stuff. You will probably want to do the LIM gaskets and some basic maintenance, but the transmission would be a deal breaker.
