i have a scanner and it has something on it called ign adv i was just wondering what this is.

The PCM advances the ignition timing as much as it can based on the conditions (fuel octane, temperature, knock, etc) to improve power and efficiency. If it detects knock, it will retard the timing.

so what are the numbers typically supposed to range from, and what are they supposed to be at WOT. At WOT its goes to 14 is that bad and in normal driving operations its about from 27 to 34

It is going to vary based on a lot of factors. Some of which Bill mentioned along with things like load on the car, flat or steep hill quality of the gas etc.

That will also depend on the car, the temperature, and the gas being used. KR is a separate parameter which some scanners can read.

My L36 advances timing to 44* on occasion. It's kinda funny to watch.
