Center Console Compatibility: 2000-2005 Models
Hi All,
I have a 2000 SSEi and wanted to know if the center console area (plastic plate around the shifter and cupholders) is compatible between the 2000 and 2005 years.
The reason I ask is that the cupholders were redesigned later in this generation of the Bonnie and the early cupholder are entirely too small. Just big enough to fit two 12 ounce cans and that's about it.
Can I switch mine out for a newer center console piece???
Thanks!
Mark

you have to swap the entire console unfortunately. while they might phyiscally fit, the mounting locations are different. they have a different underlaying design.

Thanks.
Just to clarify...
If I replace the entire center section (from the start of the center console under the small storage opening all the way back to where it ends in the back seat), it should work? Will it fit properly under the curved area just under the storage bin/climate control? Can I use any of the parts related to the storage bin between the seats/center armrest?

Yes, I did it in my car. Here is how bad my old console was.

Haro, so your car is like mine, where it doesn't have heated seats? Do you just have the switches not hooked up? I take it that you got that through a JY. I suppose Ed Morad would have one. What did yours cost?

I stole it off ebay for $50, brand new.
I have since installed seated seats in my custom leather seats, the switches are fully operational, but it did take a custom harness.

Lucky, on both counts, just e-mailed Morad parts co., but didn't see anything on their e-bay page.

Thanks for the pics.
My center section wasn't quite as bad but does have it's share of wear. Morad is a great place to shop for used parts. Nice parts, great prices.

That's very interesting, I didn't know they redesigned the cup holders. I have noticed It's hard to fit a gatorade or two drinks side by side.

All Morad currently has is an 01 in tan, struck out on both counts.

Did you put a request in for it? At lot of the time they don't keep stuff like that unless people are asking for it. Good to get dibs with them.

They usually go for around $100 shipped on ebay. I snagged a used 2002 one for $53. Regardless of the heated seats the TC button needs to be relocated.harofreak00 wrote:I stole it off ebay for $50, brand new.

Do you mean move the wiring? It would be kinda cool to wire the heat seat switches for something else, like nitrous or something else.

Yes, there's a connector that mates up in the center console, so when you remove the 00 - 01 console the side of the connector the goes to the TC and heated seats switch goes too.00Beast wrote:Do you mean move the wiring? I don't have heated seats, so i don't have to worry about that. Is the wire long enough to go from behind the shifter to in front?

The wire goes from the TC switch to the connector that's attached to the console.00Beast wrote:I don't have heated seats, so i don't have to worry about that. Is the wire long enough to go from behind the shifter to in front?

While I like being able to fit larger cups in the newer design, I really don't like losing the storage bin, and I actually happen to like the cover over the cupholders. I could live without the cover...but that bin is infinitely convenient.
