Removing a door panel (or any other interior panel for that matter) isn't terribly difficult. The trouble is knowing where to pry and, more importantly, where NOT to pry. I usually wind up breaking some critical plastic tab causing a chain reaction of cussing, spending money on replacement plastic, and more cussing.
Ever go to replace, say, a window motor and look in a "service manual" to find out how to do it and the text says "remove door panel" then moves on? OK, duh, I KNEW that. Tell me HOW for Pete's sake...why did I spend $30 on this wretched manual?
