3800 Series 3 in 06-current impala

Post by santonio03 »

Im curious. Since the 06-current impala are w bodies, could a 3800 supercharged easily fit into it? reason i asked is because under the hood look just like the grand prix with the exception the impala have the 3.5 and 3.9 instead of the 3800

Yeah, it should fit. Then it would require the typical wiring/pcm change and what not.

Santonio, this isn't a mechanical problem with a 92-99 H body (obviously). PLEASE make an effort to post in the proper sections. You are causing house-cleaning time by the Staff to keep the Forum organized.

There have been several topics by you that have been posted in the wrong sections recently. This section (92-99 mechanical) is ONLY for mechanical problems on 92-99 H bodies. Not for general discussion or questions.

Physically...yes. But there is no PCM support to do that for the 2k6-up models. NONE.

But why? Do you plan on doing this? Why is this even being brought up?

Truth be told, I'd rather have the 3900 over the S3 3800. But hey, what do I know...?

Santonio, it may physically fit. ive seen 3800 supercharged engines in little cavalier so it may be possible. Why are you people being so rude? The man just asking simple questions. If you have nothing positive to say don't respond to the question assholes. but like i said it could work.

southc1988, just look up santonio's previous posts, and I think you'll understand. If not, then whatever.

Santonio: It will physically bolt into the car, but you will not be able to wire it and get it to work right unless you have a degree in electrical engineering and a degree in computer programming, which from your previous posts, it doesn't appear that you do. However, please enlighten us all if you do.

The transmission is similar, and labeled the same (4T65E), however the programming necessary to operate the transmission and the internals are different, and not compatible with the older PCM, and the older engine isn't compatible with the newer PCM. It's a Catch-22.

If you're just asking for *shoot* and giggles, then yes, anything is possible with enough time and money. However, it's probably not worth it to attempt this endeavor unless you have a boat-load of cash to blow on it.
Bye Bye:

Santonio, when you create a new profile, at least have the smarts to do so using a different IP address than your own.
Staff of this Forum can see that both profiles are using the same IP address.

Please PM me your intentions on this Forum.
