Performance PCM install
Performance PCM install
Seasons Greetings to the club. O K down to business. I just installed a PCM from intense. I was successful with the security relearn procedure but now the car will only run for a few minutes before stalling. It seems as though the SC dump valve is opening without giving it any gas. I am able to hear loud air sucking without opening the throttle at all. HELP!

Re: Performance PCM install
The dump valve should be open at idle.
The hissing cold idle IAC is normal for the first few minutes until the car warms up a bit.
Doesn't explain why it's stalling.
Any codes?

Re: Performance PCM install
The sucking air noise seems to only be when I am at WOT usually. It is definately not the right sound while at idle. Could this be the case learn . First there was no code ,no check engine light. After I goosed the throtle a little the light came on. I then disconected the battery cabel to clear the light. It worked but the car idled no better?

Yup, sounds like you need a case learn.

Re: Performance PCM install
Clearing a code isn't going to fix a car, you need to get the code.
A case learn should be done anytime an engine OR pcm is replaced. If the pcm is just reprogrammed, it shouldn't need a case learn.

Re: Performance PCM install
If it is not the original PCM, it will need a case learn. Did you use the original PCM or buy one from Intense pre-programmed?

Re: Performance PCM install
Thanks for the replies. I e mailed intense so I can return it for another. I put my original PCM back in and it runs fine ,no codes. I just dont think that a case learn would fix the problem. The car starts chugging like a train locamotive. After that it stalls or I have to floor the gas to keep it going. Then the service engine light comes on but doesnt with my PCM. Thanks again I will let you guys know what ends up happening.
Re: Performance PCM install
Just talked to John from Intense. Way cool! Their going to send me a new PCM out today. Just thought Id let you guys know. John said if it was a case learn it would run very bad and be hard to start. Its easy to start and idles smoothly untile it starts its train impersonation. Thanks again !
